This is the first official blog posting for OlyDecon! Things are moving. I’ve now been in business for a couple of months, and there has definitely been some traction. One really exciting thing that happened is, I made my first material sale!

I was asked by the great folks at Oly Kraut to come and remove some materials from their decommissioned cooler located at Hubers Gast Haus. Incredibly this walk in cooler from roughly the 30’s was clad inside and out with old growth Douglas Fir tongue & groove flooring, much of which was clear vertical grain!

Pretty serendipitously a day after I started removing the material I was contacted by some folks who are building a tiny house who were looking for some quality materials. Ta da, a connection was born, a sale was made. Even more incredible is this, the couple found Oly Decon by searching for materials online they contacted me and we exchanged e-mails. Then, they discovered that they lived a few doors down from Oly Decon head quarters! It was really cool for me to see this actualized example of localized use of the Internet and my business systems working actually quite remarkably and simply!

So, what’s happening now you ask? Well, I am removing a metal snap on roof for Brand-X Design and Construction starting Monday. I have bids out with the Artisans Group and MC Construction. I have developed a relationship with another group of really cool folks who have a tiny house club. They are looking for materials and assistance with their projects. I love that there is so much support for Oly Decon and a needs emerging for our services.
